Exchange 2007 RTM

Ok I am a bit late in this announcement, I am sure that you are all aware that Exchange 2007 has RTM'd.

This is brilliant because the amount of interest  from the recent EVO roadshow about this latest release was staggering. If you have not started to get ready I urge you to do so now. There is a mass of material and this release is not just an a point upgrade of 2003.

Planning and Deploying of Exchange 2007 is brand new. There are now 5 server roles and depending on the topology of the organisation that you are deploying for then the use of these roles will vary.

For instance hub transports must be used even in a single mailbox server scenario.

Transport is totally new -no longer do we follow preset routes via connectors. We now carry out route selection by analysing the AD sites. Read more here

We have replaced Front end servers with Client Access servers (CAS). But CAS takes on a new functionality such as availablity and autodiscover.

Powershell is the new preferred way of doing things.

Sizing and Performance of servers has changed - 64bit architectures have seen to this

But what does it mean for the End Users.

In a nutshell - Absolute ease of managing your email (be it email , faxes or voicemail) from wherever you are.
