TechEd 2008 ITForum, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2

I am in Barcelona this week to participate in the TechEd 2008 ITForum.

I will deliver two sessions during this event. Here are the code, title and abstract for each one:

  • SVR310 - Windows Server 2008 - File and Storage Solutions (Tuesday, Nov 4, 09:00 AM to 10:15 AM)
Windows Server 2008 contains lots of changes to core file services components that increase availability, scalability and performance. Some of these components are new, others have been significantly enhanced. In this session, we cover some of the main File and Storage features in Windows Server 2008 (including SMB2, Distributed File System, NFS, Offline Files, Storage Explorer, VSS, VDS, Share and Storage Management and FSRM). We will also outline some of the upcoming enhancements in Windows Server 2008 R2. Join us for a Windows Server 2008 File and Storage “deep dive”, in a session full of technical insight.
  • SVR07-IS - Microsoft Storage Solutions for Virtualization (Thrusday, Nov 6, 4:20 PM to 05:35 PM)
Whenever you design a Virtualization solution, your storage design is one of the keys to your success. With the new capabilities in Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V and the many features in Windows Storage Server, Microsoft offers plenty of options. In this session, we will outline the Storage requirements for Hyper-V, briefly describe the storage options in Windows Storage Server (including Cluster Shared Volumes in Windows Server 2008 R2) and open the floor to discussions. Bring your Hyper-V storage questions to this interactive session.

I will also have an associated “ask the experts” slot for each one of the sessions:

  • SVR310 - Windows Server 2008 - File and Storage Solutions - Tuesday, Nov 4, 12:45 PM to 1:15 PM
  • SVR07-IS - Microsoft Storage Solutions for Virtualization - Friday, Nov 7, 12:45 PM to 1:15 PM

In addition to those, I will be working at the Windows Server booth (number 33) on Monday night, Tuesday afternoon, Thrusday afternoon and Friday.

If you're attending the conference, be sure to come by and say hi... For details, check https://www.microsoft.com/emea/teched2008/itpro/
