I was visiting the RSA conference last week and couldn’t help but notice an interesting advertising technique from one of the exhibitors. They hired some people and had them doing wierd things at the conference. I remember the first one that caught my attention, walking with the back to the outside wall of the conference hall while looking all around him, as if affraid of something hitting him from behind. The company sells software that detects unusual behaviors in the network and help you prevent intrusion detection. But this being Silicon Valley and all, I almost just moved to the next exhibitor, until I noticed his shirt saying “I am aware of my unusual behavior…” plus an invite to visit the company’s booth.
