No wonder the whole thing went almost unnoticed. However, it was aligned with something. The Service Pack 1 for Live Communication Server (LCS) 2005 was also made available recently. The truth is that Microsoft is working hard to update the Real-Time Communication technologies faster than the rest of the Office suite. LCS enjoyed many updates recently and the trend is showing no signs of stopping. I have been running Communicator in beta for quite a while now. It's quite simple to explain what it is. It's a client for Live Communication Server, in the same way that Outlook is a client for Exchange Server. You might ask: Wasn't that supposed to be the Windows Messenger or the MSN Messenger? Well, you could compare Windows Messeger with Outlook Express (ships with Windows, has limited abilities compared to the Office counterpart). MSN Messenger is a consumer product, which was never capable of being an LCS client anyway. If you also think that the new Office Communicator 2005 is an Instant Messaging (IM) client, you're just partially right. As with Office Outlook (where you can find unique features like Calendaring and Tasks that are not in Outlook Express), you will find a number of unique features that won't be in the non-Office products. Many of these features are more related to the fact that the new product connects via LCS 2005, but the user will see those improvements through this client, in the same way that many of the Office Outlook's features are actually a result of using Exchange. Não me admira que esta coisa toda passou quase desapercebida. Entretanto, está alinhado com alguma coisa. O Service Pack 1 do Live Communication Server (LCS) 2005 também foi disponibilizado recentemente. A verdade é que a Microsoft está trabalhando arduamente para atualizar as tecnologias de Comunicação em Tempo Real mais rapidamente do que o resto da família Office. O LCS tem tido muitas atualizações recentemente e a tendência é que continue. Eu tenho usado o Communicator em beta já faz algum tempo. É simples explicar o que ele é. É o cliente do Live Communication Server, da mesma forma que o Outlook é o cliente to Exchange Server. Você pode perguntar: Mas não era para ser o Windows Messenger ou o MSN Messenger? Bem, você pode comprar o Windows Messenger com o Outlook Express (vem com o Windows, tem limitações quando comparado ao equivalente no Office).
