There were quite a few announcements recently around Microsoft's Virtualization Technologies.

1) The Virtual Server Management Pack was released:

  • It extends MOM 2005 to monitors the availability, health, and performance of virtual servers and virtual machines
  • It includes a rich set of views, tasks, and reports, and it can automatically respond to critical events and performance indicators

  • Este producto estende o MOM 2005 para monitorar a disponibilidade, saúde e performance de servidores virtuais e máquinas virtuais.

2) Virtual Server 2005 SP1 was announced:

  • Third-party OS support, including Linux
  • Significant performance improvement over initial release
  • 64-bit host support
  • Broad licensing of the VHD format to partners

2) Foi anunciado o Virtual Server 2005 SP1:

  • Suporte para SO de terceiros, incluindo Linux
  • Performance bem melhor que a versão inicial
  • Suporte para hospedeiro de 64 bits

3) The next version of Virtual Server was announced

  • Extensible VHD format
  • Windows hypervisor technology
  • Support for hardware virtualization technologies (Intel VT and AMD Pacifica)
  • System Center Virtualization management

This next release is expected in the Longhorn time frame.

4) MMS 2005 and WinHEC 2005

These annoucements and details around them were released during two major conferences that happened recently: the Microsoft Management Summit 2005 and the Windows Hardware Engineering Conference 2005.

  • Tecnologia para hypervisor no Windows
