Management Group Performance Evaluation and Tuning Reports

I created a small management pack a couple years ago to help identify performance bottlenecks in an Operations Manager 2007 R2 environment.  It started with a couple collection rules targeting the core SCOM server roles.  I would then query the database and paste results into an Excel spreadsheet.  Evaluating all the data and formatting the spreadsheet was a big undertaking, but provided insightful information into the overall management group performance.

Since then I included a performance report that evaluates many of the counters during runtime, and clearly indicates potential bottlenecks by marking up the report automatically with green and red boxes.  This change dramatically reduced the time it took to get a real-time snapshot of management group performance.  There is also an date range offset parameter on the report, so it could be emailed to the SCOM administrator on a regular schedule.

Tuning is another aspect of Operations Manager that needs attention in order to maintain a healthy and well performing environment.  It is also imperative in delivering the best experience with your monitoring tool (including the Operations Console, notification workflows and connecting to other ticketing systems).  So, I thought a general tuning report would be a nice addition.
