Sessions Abstracts:

Deploying Windows Vista Images using Windows Deployment Services (WDS)

In this session we’ll look at how to capture, view and edit Windows Vista image files and configuration settings. The updated Windows Pre-installation (WinPE) provides a platform for the imaging features, while the Windows Imaging (WIM) file format provides new deployment options and capabilities. We’ll also discuss how the ImageX command line tool offers advantages and capabilities that go beyond typical sector-based imaging solutions. Finally, we’ll look at deploying a WIM file using Windows Deployment Services. WDS is a multi-component, unified deployment solution that makes it easier for administrators to manage critical business systems. What makes WDS better than previous solutions? We’ll explore all the benefits, including how WDS takes advantage of the WIM file format and how all the components of WDS interact to help your company reap significant efficiency benefits.

 We’ll cover:

-       The ImageX command line tool

-       Creating a Windows Image file

-       Windows Pre-installation (WinPE) platform updates

-       Windows Deployment Services and technologies

-       WDS Solutions

-       Windows Server 2008 Deployment Futures
