Microsoft spends $3.8bn buying back its own shares

It's an interesting move from Microsoft and I certainly think it has a number of people in shock as to the HUGE amount of money. It is just unimaginable to think about such a lump sum of money.

Based on the preliminary count by the depositary for the tender offer, Microsoft expects to acquire approximately 155 million shares of its common stock at a price of $24.75 per share for a total cost of approximately $3.8bn. These shares represent approximately 1.5 per cent of the company’s total outstanding shares.
