TechEd Europe 2010

I was fortunate enough to attend TechEd Europe 2010 last week in Berlin and spend some time in the booth demo’ing and trying to answer questions from the delegates. I had a couple of questions I needed to do some more research on and I’m posting the answers here:

  • If you have configured Music on Hold in Lync 2010 and you are in a audio conference hosted on Lync 2010 and you put the conference call on hold will the other participants in the conference then hear Music on Hold? The answer is no. The client will understand it is in a Lync hosted audio conference and will not play Music on Hold.
  • In voice resiliency mode is it possible to sign in using extension and PIN on a Lync 2010 Phone Edition device? If this is the very first time you try to sign in on the device with PIN it will not work, since the PIN is not available to the backup registrar. If you have already signed in and received a certificate on the device you can sign in to the backup registrar.
