The January 2009 Issue of Technet Magazine is now online. There seems to be a continuing theme from the December issue around identity an interoperability with an emphasis on the upcoming release of Microsoft Identity Lifecycle Manager 2. In addition to that there is heaps of tips and advice in this issue. Check out the highlights below.
- Identity Management – An Introduction – Microsoft Identity Manager Lifecycle Manager 2 is in Beta 3 right now and enhances what was already in previous versions of the products and picks up where the identity capabilities in Windows Server 2008 leave off. - Windows Administration – Group Policy Preferences – This is without a doubt one of my favourite features in Windows Server 2008 and really gives you much more control of your environment and helps get rid of logon scripts! Check out this article for a great introduction!
- Windows Administration – Deploying Applications with Terminal Services – Check this article out for a detailed look at deploying remote applications with Terminal Services in Windows Server 2008. There’s even an embedded video demonstration from the boys over at Edge!
- SQL Server 2008 – Advanced Troubleshooting with extended events – Extended events is new in SQL Server 2008 so check out how you can use this new technology to perform advance troubleshooting.
