SWIUG Special Meeting next week

Hi Folks,

Next week on Tuesday April 24th @ 6:00PM we are having a special meeting of the Sydney Windows Infrastructure GroupSteve Riley is in town for the Security and Management Seminars and has agreed to come and talk to the group on a special topic.  Steve is going to cover the following:

Attack trends and techniques

The bad guys just keep getting better! They're constantly changing their tactics and inventing new techniques to cause you harm, damage your data, and make your resources unavailable. Why do they do this? What motivates someone to -- let's call it what it is -- commit computer-related crimes? How have they changed and improved? What kinds of attacks are popular now and why are they so effective? What might we expect to see in the future? Steve Riley will help you understand the latest in attack trends and techniques, so that you can plan appropriately and implement effective processes and technologies to mitigate their threats.

This should prove to be a good session as Steve is always entertaining.  So if your in Sydney then get along to the meeting.  It's free to attend and there will be pizza and drinks there as well.

Jeff Jones is also going to come along as well so it's going to be a good security night!

Please RSVP on the SWIUG website for catering purposes.

See you there!

I look forward to following on from our discussion from the "Melbourne Security Interchange" Post [http://blogs.technet.com/jeffa36/archive/2007/04/13/new-user-group-microsoft-security-interchange.aspx] and my ongoing discussion with Jamie Sharp (Microsoft).
