Windows Vista Screencast: Aero Interface

vista skus

Hi there folks,

Well it's time again for another Screencast on Windows Vista! My last Screencast was on Search which judging by the views was quite popular! In this Screencast I'm going to give you a bit of introduction on the new Windows Vista Aero interface that is available for Windows Vista Premium PC's. I'm going to take you through how Vista looks in it's basic themes and then look at how it will scale to the hardware its running on. I'm also going to show you how it compares to Windows XP. Now can I cover all of it in 10-15 minutes? Well probably not but at least this gives you a taste of what it looks like.

During the Screencast I'm going to mention some terms that you may or may not be familiar with. Those being the new Windows Display Driver Model or WDDM and the new Desktop Windows Manager or DWM. Both or these are critical in making Aero work like it does. Now I'm approaching this from what the user is going to see and how that is going to change their lives. If you want to delve deeper into some of the underlying technologies that bring this all to life then head over to Greg Schechter's Blog for all the in depth details. He covers everything to do with DWM and WDDM and also a bit on DirectX. In particular he has done a great post that indexes all the topics in this area. It's a great reference to keep for review.

So without any further delays click the photo below to watch the Screencast!
