Internet Explorer 7.0 Beta 2: Tab Groups

Hi folks,

I've been running IE 7.0 Beta 2 for a little while now and one of the most useful features to me is the ability to save a group of web pages as a tabbed group.  Tab browsing is really cool and its been around for awhile but I really like the idea of being able to save a group of pages I visit regularly as a group.  This is particularly useful for online banking.  When you need to have a few windows open this just makes it a whole lot easier.  So this is what you need to do.

  • Open up a few web pages each with its own tab.  In this illustration I've just opened up some sports websites I want to check on.

.

  • Use the Quick Tabs feature to see if you have all the pages you want in the group.  This is really nice because it's give a you a really useful thumbnail view of your pages.

  • Click the Add/Subscribe button on the toolbar (yellow plus sign) and choose add tab group to favorites.  Give it a folder name and choose a location and your done.

  • To open up the new tabbed group simple click on the Favorites Center icon and scroll down the name of the group you gave these pages in the previous step.  There is a little blue arrow next to the name of the group and when you hover over this it shows a popup saying "Open <groupname> in a tab group.  Sweet!  Now you have all those pages you wanted to be able to refer to easily.

I think IE 7.0 rocks and the above is just one of the reasons.  If you haven't already checked out the beta then have a look on the IE website.

cheers
