Virtual Server 2005 R2 Live on the Web

Hi folks,

To support the launch of Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 we have launched the new website with all the details of this important release.  I’ve started using this release for all my demos and I have to tell the performance is outstanding.  I did a demo the other day on Windows Server 2003 R2 and I used Virtual Server 2005 R2 and I was able to run 4 virtual machines and the Powerpoint slides on the same machine.  Using Virtual PC in the past was difficult and had a hard time running this many machines at once.  So I’m using Virtual Server now exclusively for demos!

  • Virtual Server host clustering. Support for host-to-host connectivity lets you cluster all virtual machines running on a host.
  • iSCSI Support – This enables guest-to-guest connectivity across physical machines
  • x64 Support – This is my favorite feature of the lot because now Virtual Server runs natively within a 64–Bit Windows host OS.  This gives you further memory headroom and increased performance!
  • Enhanced PXE Booting – Now included is improved hyperthreading, support for F6 Disk(SCSI Driver) and virtual disk pre-compactor funtionality
  • Performance – This cannot be understated in this release!

So check out the website for all the updated Virtual Server stuff!
