Brisbane Infrastructure Group - Well it's official!  The inaugral meeting of the Brisbane Infrastructure Group will be on Tuesday October 4th 2005 and I will be presenting a session on Migrating from SUS to WSUS.  Check out the website for registration details. The focus of this groups is to bring like minded IT Pro's together to talk about Microsoft infrastructure products.  I'm really happy that Andrew Dugdell from Clarity is going to be running this group.  Andrew has been very active in the community and has a passion for virtualization Media Centre and new technologies in general.  He has also done a really good unofficial list of User Groups that are currently running around Australia and New Zealand.  Check out his website for all the details because there are quite alot of groups in there now.

Sydney

Sydney SQL Server User Group - This group meets the last Tuesday of each month so the meeting is on tonight!

This month we have 2 sessions. Check out the website above for registration details.

Nick Barclay will be taking a deeper look into some of the more interesting bits of the SQL 2005 BI infrastructure. From accessing Data Mining model information through Reporting Services to dynamic cube partitioning through Integration Services.

After this Rowan Burke will take a tour through the SQL server 2005 upgrade advisor features and discuss his experiences with the DBMS upgrade process.

Sydney Biztalk User Group - This group meets the last Wednesday of each month so tomorrow night is the next meeting. This group is run by Mick Badran from Breeze Training and this month's session is going to be all about adapters and how to use Biztalk to leverage your existing systems. Check out the website to register and find our more about this session!

Sydney SharePoint User Group - This group is run by Ivan Wilson from one of our Partners UniqueWorld and they meet the 3rd Tuesday of each month and the next meeting will be Tuesday October 18th 2005 @ 6:00PM. Check the website for slides of past presentation and registration details for upcoming meetings.

Canberra

Canberra Windows Infrastructure User Group - Formerly the SBS group they have now turned into an infrastructure group based on demand in the Canberra market. David Mackie runs this group and this months topic is "DFS-R Share the Data, don't Proxy it". DFS-R in Windows Server 2003 R2 represents a big leap forward in replication of data so if your in Canberra then try to get along to this meeting. The group meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month so the next meeting is Tuesday October 10th 2005 @ 6:00PM. Check out the website for registration details.

So as you can see there is quite alot of activity in the User group space so get along if you are interested in any of these groups. Remember registration and food & drink is free at these events so the only cost to you is a couple of hours of your time. Who knows you might learn something new!
