Deployment a new Era with Vista

I am starting to ramp myself for Vista. I was starting to read around the area of Deployment and the new features and functionality that Vista coupled with the forthcoming Windows 2003 sp2 brings to the table. Things have really moved on apace since the days of grappling with complex unattend.txt files that you used with you installations of NT4. Companies now need quick efficient and reliable methods to roll out their company desktop deployment, whether it be a fairly small environment up to large scale enterprise deployments. Well Vista brings to the table  a range of new tools. The one that caught my eye was Windows Deployment Services (the next version of RIS). This service allows you to deploy Vista remotely utilizing PXE boot for remote desktops.  Alongside this sits ImageX which uses the WIM (Windows Imaging Format). This is a file based imaging format as opposed to sector based. There is a  good article by Ent News, which gives a good introduction to this arena, plus check out the Microsoft White Paper on Vista Deployment  which discussed the challenge and strategic approach MSIT is taking to deploy Vista across Microsoft. Finally also take a look at the Windows Vista Technet Resource. Here sits an excellent source of information to enable you to get ramped up on Vista !.
