We've been experiencing some turbulence with respects to our partners getting license keys for Vista and Office but thankfully these have been resolved. Below are the details regarding what was going on:
For reference, PMC stands for Partner Membership Center.
Vista/Office 2007 Activation Key Availability in PMC Status: Green
Issue:
The activation keys for Vista & Office 2007 were not available to partners in the MSPP PMC (preventing activation once the partner downloaded these applications from MSDN.)
Root Cause:
Vista and Office 2007 are utilizing the new multiple activation key (MAK) technology for partners and the current systems and provisioning processes were not adequately prepared for this change
Affected Partners:
All Gold Certified & Certified partners
Resolution & Timing:
Vista & Office 2007 MAK Keys will be available in PMC starting Friday, December 8, 2006
Expired MSDN Accounts For Gold & Certified Partners Status: Green
Issue:
A small number of Gold Certified and Certified partners were unable to access MSDN in order to download software because their accounts were expired.
Root Cause:
A recent cleansing of the Empower database resulted in the inadvertent expiration of a small number of active Gold & Certified partner accounts in MSDN
Affected Partners:
Approx. 1,600 active Gold & Certified partners that formerly had Empower accounts
Resolution & Timing:
All affected Gold & Cert accounts have been restored as of Thursday, December 7, 2006
