My new toshiba portege r500 laptop

I've been using my new Toshiba Portege R500 for a few days now, I'm finding that I'm taking this little laptop everywhere I go. One of the first things I did was go up the road to the local Harris Technology to pick up an extra 1GB ram so the R500 is running at its max 2GB. This laptop is the lightest laptop I have used, I can easily carry the laptop around with 1 hand! It came pre-installed with Windows Vista Business but I got it imaged with Windows Vista Enterprise so its meets our corporate IT guidelines.

You can see how small the laptop is next to my water bottle. It has a 12.1" inch transreflective screen. What is transreflective? well do you notice that when you take your laptop into the sun its kinda hard to see the see even on max brightness. You can press one button on the R500 and the screen lights up its really quite amazing.

It comes with a 120GB Hard Drive (you can also get a version with 64GB SSD drive). The battery is lasting around 3-4 hours and I will most likely get the 6 cell battery which can extend the battery life to 7-8 hours.

It has 3 USB slots, firewire, SD Card slot, Ethernet, VGA connection and PCMCIA slot. Speed wise its running really well, its a 1.2Ghz Intel Centrino Duo. Oh yeah it has 802.11 a/g/n and Bluetooth v2.0 + EDR.

Roger Lawrence (a new member of our team) also received his R500 this week, he has a great post about it at his blog.
