Linux Integration Services 3.4 per Hyper-V

E’ stata rilasciata una nuova release dei Linux Integration Services per Hyper-V, che segue il rilascio delal versione 3.3 che introduceva il supporto ad Hyper-V nella Release Candidate di Windows Server 2012 e Release Preview di Windows 8.

I Linux Integration Services 3.4 consentono di abilitare nelle vm guest Linux i device driver ottimizzati relativi allo storage (IDE e SCSI) e al networking (con il supporto anche per i Jumbo Frames), il supporto completo per il mouse, supporto per fastpath boot e Live Migration, VLAN tagging e trunking

La versione 3.4 dei Linux Integration Services estende inoltre il supporto ad un set più ampio di distribuzioni:

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.7 x86/x64
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.8 x86/x64
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.0-6.3 x86/x64
  • CentOS 5.7 x86/x64
  • CentOS 5.8 x86/x64
  • CentOS 6.0-6.3 x86/x64

in esecuzione su Hyper-V in Windows Server 2012, Windows 8, Hyper-V Server 2012, Windows Server 2008 R2, Hyper-V Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008, Hyper-V Server 2008.

Come vi avevo detto in precedenza, per queste distribuzioni è incluso il supporto supporto ufficiale fino a 4 virtual CPU quando i guest Linux sono in esecuzione su Hyper-V in Windows Server 2008 R2/Hyper-V Server 2008 R2, mentre è incluso il supporto ufficiale fino a 32 virtual CPU quando sono in esecuzione su Hyper-V in Windows Server 2012 o Windows 8.

Invece, i guest

  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP3
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.2 / 5.3 / 5.4 / 5.5

devono utilizzare la release 2.1 dei Linux Integration Services.

[Update del 24/9] La beta di Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.9 contiene già al suo interno i device driver per Hyper-V.
