Back from Beantown with More News About the Scalable Networking Pack

I'm just back from a week at TechEd 2006 (which kicked major butt) and a week's vacation before that.

In addition to trying to dig out of my Inbox, install the latest builds of Windows Vista and Windows Server "Longhorn", file my expenses, and restore my office to original spec following a prank pulled on me while I was out, I did get the time to post some new articles on the Scalable Networking TechNet site.

The first (which I didn't actually post) is a link to this month's Cable Guy article which features the Scalable Networking Pack:

Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Scalable Networking Pack Overview

The second, is a link to a jointly authored article for Dell's Power Solutions magazine on TCP Offload on PowerEdge servers, using Broadcom NetXtreme II C-NICs and the Scalable Networking Pack:

Boosting Data Transfer with TCP Offload Engine Technology

Check this stuff out and be sure to let me know if this is the kind of stuff you'd like to see on the site.

TechEd 2006

This year's TechEd was awesome. Don't just take my word for it; almost every attendee I spoke too said this year's conference had more information than any year before and that it was the best one yet. It'll certainly be a tough act to follow in 2007!

From my perspective, we had lots of great energy and excitement around Windows Server platform networking technologies and solutions.

First off, Server and Domain Isolation was a hit. A year back at TechEd 2005, the solution was barely on anyone's radar. This year, we had a very well attended breakout session (about 300 attendees), lots of traction at our Technology Learning Center (TLC) table throughout the week and a killer Chalk-Talk that featured Rodrigo Immaginario (CIO of UVV, a Server and Domain Isolation case study). There must have been at least 50 customers we spoke with that were either in the process of deploying or seriously considering it.

I also delivered a session on the Scalable Networking Pack and jointly delivered a session with Chris Mitchell (Group Program Manager for Internet Protocols) on the new networking stack in Windows Vista and Windows Server "Longhorn". It was a packed session, in the grand ballroom, even thought it was right before the big party at Fenway.

I'll be posting more on TechEd through the week. Time to get back to my Inbox!
