PROBLEM SCENARIO DESCRIPTION

  • You attempt to install Microsoft Identity Manager 2016 RTM Service and Portal onto a machine that has SharePoint 2016 installed.

 

NOTE FIM 2010, FIM 2010 R2, FIM 2010 R2 SP1 and MIM 2016 RTM Portal is not supported on SharePoint Server 2016.

 

WINDOWS INSTALLER VERBOSE LOG

NOTE You can get a Windows Installer Verbose Log by opening an Administrative Command-Prompt and navigating to the installation media and then executing the following command line. msiexec /i "Service and Portal.msi" /l*v installlog.txt Searching for the words "Return Value 3" in the log file will take you to the section in which the exception is raised.

CAUSE

  • The product being installed is a MIM 2016 RTM build of the product.  One can confirm this by searching in the Windows Installer Verbose Log file for the words "ProductVersion" and/or "Product Version" and you will see the build of the product.

  • Install a supported build of the product for SharePoint 2016.
