Print long documents faster

By default, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint print your documents in the background, and most of the time this is fine. Background printing frees you up to do other work while your documents spool.

But what if you have a really long document and a deadline to get it all printed? You might be willing to sacrifice a few minutes extra productivity on your other projects just to make it to the meeting on time and ready to present. Here's how to toggle background printing:

Click the Office button, and then Word Options (or PowerPoint Options):

Click Advanced and then scroll down to the Print section. Uncheck Print in background and then click OK to print faster:

Just remember to go back and turn it back on later, so you can get some work done.
