Yesterday marked the start of the 2013 Microsoft Hosting Summit and I’m thrilled about the exciting things happening in the hosting space. More than 400 industry executives from 38 countries have joined us in Seattle to connect and share ideas on how to expand and build new hosting services, drive innovation and create new opportunities.
The theme for this year’s Summit is Changing the Game. With this in mind, we are focusing on the ability to work and partner on the following elements: leveraging the massive scale of the cloud and the ability to meet unique customer requirements.
Our keynotes and breakout sessions this week focus on identifying both the immediate and future opportunities for hosting partners to accelerate their growth. The goal is to ensure our hosting partners are bringing innovative thinking to the services they provide. Areas of focus include:
- Building platforms that provide the ability to scale and automate the provisioning of the resources required to move existing applications, in addition to developing next-generation applications designed for the cloud.
- Gaining new customers by leveraging our combined ability to deliver the cloud’s benefits across the variety of models.
In the last few years, cloud technologies have been gaining momentum, and now the cloud is at the center of opportunity for Microsoft and its partners, and this is our game changer.
As the cloud evolves, we can continue to learn from the many Microsoft hosting partners that are changing the face of the hosting environment. Eugene Saburi, general manager of Cloud OS Marketing for Microsoft, addressed the key role partners play during his keynote this morning, which you can read about here. And I was pleased to be joined by Rackspace and Intermedia on stage today.
And stay tuned in the coming days as we share findings from a research study we recently commissioned with 451 Research titled The New Era of Hosted Services. The survey findings provide compelling insights into new opportunities for hosting partners and how we can help customers better leverage these services and accelerate growth.
