Summary: Microsoft Scripting Guy, Ed Wilson, talks about a way cool DevOps conference in London.
Microsoft Scripting Guy, Ed Wilson, is here. Sometimes, things are really crazy, and at other times, things are just normally crazy. One of the cool things about being the Scripting Guy is that I hear from people all over the world, and as time progresses, we become friends around a shared interest in automation.
So, I received a way cool invitation the other day via email@example.com to attend a DevOps conference in London. Unfortunately, I am not flying right now, but I talked to the organizer, and we decided that I would do a virtual keynote address. I know that not everyone who reads this blog will be in London for the DevOps conference, so I decided I would also post my keynote here.

Here is further background about the conference:
We are hosting a DevOps for Windows conference called WinOps Conf. Our goal is to push the message that DevOps isn’t only for Linux and that all the major vendors are investing in Windows DevOps. Traditionally, DevOps has been seen to be a movement within the Linux world, but we are seeing trends towards more Microsoft DevOps involvement with the further versatility of Windows PowerShell and growth of the Microsoft Azure cloud platform.
The event is being held in London at The Brewery on September 22, 2015. We have the two PowerShell MVPs in attendance—Dave Wyatt and Richard Siddaway are speaking and involved in the panel sessions. We think that there is a real opportunity to promote DevOps for Windows (and in the process promote Azure, operating system agnostic hybrid stacks, Windows Server 2016, Nano, Containerisation, and so on).
We have a varied agenda for the day with the following format: keynote plenary sessions in the morning, and two tracks in the afternoon—one panel and one workshop. Confirmed sponsors and speakers include:
- Octopus Deploy
- App Dynamics
- Prism Digital
The event is strictly limited to 200 spaces to make sure the conference is intimate and to allow for high-quality panel and workshop sessions. Register for the event ASAP. We are looking forward to seeing you at our first WinOps Conference.
