System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM) 2012 BETA is now available

Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager 2012 continues to build on the legacy of providing unified data protection for Windows servers and clients as a best-of-breed backup & recovery solution from Microsoft, for Windows environments. DPM provides the best protection and most supportable restore
scenarios from disk, tape and cloud -- in a scalable, manageable and cost-effective way.

Based on valuable customer feedback since the 2010 release, DPM 2012 provides System Center integration with a single console for managing all of your DPM servers. Also new in the 2012 release is certificate based protection, media co-location, generic data source protection and virtual enhancements to help you reduce the costs of managing your existing IT environment.

Already a critical part of Microsoft Hyper-V Private Cloud infrastructures, DPM provides the capability to protect virtual machines in your IT environment, as well as the applications running on them. With the 2012 release DPM grows these existing capabilities with support for item level recovery, even when DPM is running in a virtual machine.
