Exchange 2003: Another Exchange ActiveSync Licensee

Great news!!!!  This was just announced about 15 minutes ago (https://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2006/feb06/02-06SonyExchangePR.mspx).

Sony Ericsson has licensed the Exchange ActiveSync protocol and will incorporate it into the Sony Ericsson P990 and M600 phones tentatively due out in the second quarter of this year.  According to the press release, it looks like these phones will also support the Direct Push capabilities released with Exchange 2003 SP2.  Unfortnately, I don't have the full details of what features will or won't be supported from the Exchange 2003 SP2 stack.

Why is this great news?  To me, this shows increasing interest in integration with Exchange Server by the different mobile phone manufacturers.  This in term will eventually lead to more and more people who can be connected to their Exchange Mailbox from anywhere on any device (not just Microsoft Windows Mobile devices)!
