SQL 2005 Roadshow in Phoenix - 8/23/05 "Notes from Harold"

The SQL 2005 Roadshow came through Phoenix, Arizona today.  I had the opportunity to attend and staff the Microsoft Information Table as well as listen in on a few sessions.

The keynote was delivered by Kamal Hathi, Product Unit Manager for SQL Integration Services.  This went very well - running over just by a few minutes.  Since I am not a developer, I chose to attend the Administration track when possible.  The three sessions in this track were delivered by Raj Gill of Scalability Experts.  I thought Raj did an excellent job on both sessions I was able to attend (or portions of).  The High Availability session that covered Snapshops, Replication and Mirroring (as well as other items) ran out of time since there were so many great questions from the attendees.  Unfortunately, Raj was unable to demonstrate the Mirroring because of this.

The good news for those of you who attended and would like to get a little bit more exposure to SQL 2005, feel free to join me at the TechNet Event next Tuesday at the Hilton Scottsdale Resort (Lincoln and Scottsdale Rd.).  I will be covering some similar information as well as Peer to Peer Replication and Mirroring (with Demos) at my event: https://msevents.microsoft.com/cui/EventDetail.aspx?culture=en-US&EventID=1032277013.  Sorry for the shameless plug - okay, so maybe only a little sorry.  :-)

Back to the topic of discussion ....

The Partners who were there sponsoring this event did a great job and have some great solutions for SQL Server!  I really enjoyed speaking with everyone in attendance - from partners to customers.  I look forward to seeing everyone next week as well as during the SQL Launch.  If all goes well, we will have a Launch Event in Phoenix on November 8th.  Of course if anyone tries to hold me to that date, I will deny it until I have fully confirmed it - :-).  Stay Tuned.
