ECMA: "ISO and IEC approve Office Open XML document format standard"

Laut ECMA hat die ISO Office Open XML als internationalen ISO Standard abgesegnet. Direkt von der ECMA Webseite:

The International Standards Organization (ISO) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) have approved ISO/IEC DIS 29500, Office Open XML File Formats as an International Standard. Approval requires at least 2/3 (i.e. 66.66 %) of the votes cast by national bodies participating in ISO/IEC JTC 1 to be positive; and no more than 1/4 (i.e. 25 %) of the total number of national body votes cast negative. Both of these criteria were achieved, with 75 % of votes cast by national bodies participating in ISO/IEC JTC 1 being positive and only 14 % of all national votes cast being negative.

Das Ergebnis kann sich absolut sehen lassen:

  • 86% sämtlicher abgegebener gültiger Stimmen stimmen für Office Open XML
  • 75% der sogenannten P-Mitglieder stimmen für Open XML

Nach mehr als 14 Monaten intensiver Überprüfung hat ein gemeinsames technisches Komitee der ISOund der IEC, das sogenannte Joint Technical Committee, JTC-1, das formale Verfahren zur Verabschiedung eines Standardentwurfs nach (DIS) 29500 für das Dateiformat Office Open XML (Open XML) von Ecma abgeschlossen. Diese Daten signalisieren eine breite Unterstützung für die Ratifizierung der Dokumentformats-Spezifikation. Das hatte sich ja schon abgezeichnet, als immer mehr Standardisierungs Institute Ihre Wahlergebnisse bekannt gaben.

Damit ist Office Open XML nun wie HTML, PDF und ODF ein offener Standard für den Austausch von Dokumentenformaten gemäß der ISO- und IEC-Bestimmungen. Bereits 2006 war Office Open XML von Ecma International als Standard anerkannt worden.
