Installing Ops Mgr 2007 Reporting - SRS Server Validation error

If you receive the error: SRS Server Validation Error while installing SCOM Reporting, dont forget you need to Configure Reporting Server first.

To do this you need to go START -> All Programs -> Microsoft SQL Server 2005 -> Configuration Tools -> Reporing Services Configuration. Then on each of the Items that have a Red X or Yellow ! select them and configure them accordingly.

If you see any grey items this means that they cant be validated and even though you have configured another item it could be incorrect. The most common is the Initialisation option, if this is grey then you probably authentication

Within the Support Tools folder on the OpsMgr media there is a very handy tool there called ResetSRS.exe which does exactly as the name implies, it resets SQL SRS.

Details about this tool are available in the SCOM deployment guide:
https://download.microsoft.com/download/7/4/d/74deff5e-449f-4a6b-91dd-ffbc117869a2/OpsMgr2007_Deployment.doc

To get you started though I have put together a few steps on how to use ResetSRS.exe to re-install SCOM reporting.

1. Copy the ResetSRS.exe file in SupportTools folder of the OM 2007 media to C:.
2. Open a Command Prompt and change your path to C:.
3. Type "ResetSRS.exe MSSQLSERVER" where MSSQLSERVER is your SQL instance name.
4. Then open Reporting Services Configuration Console, select Web Service Identity and click Apply.
5. Reinstall SCOM Reporting.
