Howdy folks,

Today I’m happy to let you know that our Azure Active Directory SDKs for iOS and Android have reached General Availability. We are also adding support for OS X for Mountain Lion and above. Best of all, it’s FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) so that you can participate in the development process as we build these libraries.

A few months ago we released previews of these SDKs. They allowed you to easily add Work Accounts support to your existing Android and iOS apps. A Work Account is an identity you use to get work done no matter if at your business or on a college campus. Anywhere you need to get access to your work life you’ll use a Work Account. The Work Account can be tied to an Active Directory server running in your datacenter or live completely in the cloud like when you use Office365. A Work Account will be how your users know that they are accessing their important documents and data backed by Microsoft security.

Hopefully you had a chance to see these SDKs in action during the 2014 BUILD conference in San Francisco or on Satya’s iPad when we launched Office for iPad earlier this year. The response and excitement for these libraries has been pretty cool to see.

To demonstrate how easy it is to use these SDKs with your existing iOS, OS X, and Android products check out this short video with DocuSign who used the Azure Identity SDK for iOS to get their popular app connected to Office365:

Samples

We provide a full suite of sample applications and documentation on GitHub to help you get started with learning the Azure Active Directory system. This includes tutorials for devices such as Windows, Windows Phone, iOS, OSX, Android, and Mac. We also provide full walkthroughs for authentication flows such as OAuth2, OpenID Connect, Graph API, and other awesome features. And you can check out the recently updated Android TODO Example Application and iOS TODO Example Application. Both of these connect to the same TODO service either on .Net or node.js, which are also samples! Cool, huh?

Hopefully you’ll find these SKD’s useful as you look to identity enable your apps! As always, we’d love to get your feedback and suggestions.

Best Regards,
