The 2015 Imagine Cup India National Finals

We have just completed the India National finals for Imagine Cup last week on the 23rd of April at the NGF College of Engg. & Technology, Palwal, Haryana (Microsoft Innovation Center), and what an exciting 2 day event it was!

About Imagine Cup

Now in its 13th year, Imagine Cup is Microsoft’s premier student technology program and competition that provides that provides opportunities for students across all disciplines to team up and use their creativity, passion and knowledge of technology to create applications, games and integrates solutions that can change the way we live, work and play. Over the past years, more than 1.65 million students from more than 190 countries have participated in the Imagine Cup.

Highlights of the India Final

In the last 10 months, we have hosted regional Imagine Camps, covering more than 10+ states from across the country, to identify innovation at the grassroots level.

  • Over 13,000 participants in this year’s competition.
  • 50,000+ students, faculty witnessed this event through online & offline modes from across the country led by MSPs.
  • Judges included people from RBS, HCL, NIIT, BCG, ET NOW, OLX, SAIF Partners, Tech Mahindra, Business experts, Venture Capitalists, academicians, Startup Founders & Microsoft.
  • Keynote Address by Joseph Landes, General Manager-Developer Experience & Evangelism (DX), Microsoft India.
  • CXO Roundtable Discussion on ‘Imagine India’ theme was moderated by Joseph and had eminent leaders from corporates & government.

Imagine Cup India finals this year witnessed a display of great projects & innovative new ideas. The Jury selected top 3 teams out of the 27 teams competing in each category: World Citizenship, Innovation & Games.

World Citizenship

Team Turing

This team has developed  a Windows desktop application in which the user can type using his brain, using his eye blinks and can express what he/she want to say. This helps people suffering from ALS syndrome (40 million people suffer from ALS) to communicate with the outer world.


Team Eyeluminati

Team Eyeluminati have developed “Manovue” which is multi utility wearable haptic device used for helping a blind or visually impaired person move around in a complex environment as well as for local-sequential text scanning, where the user scans the text progressively in a local view and hears the recognized words synthesized to audible speech.


Team Aether

Tydee is a Kinect based Desktop & windows mobile game that will help in educating citizens of all ages. This game will teach people the basics of garbage segregation and waste management. It will motivate people in a fun way to make them understand the importance of a clean ecosystem & and how a cleaner environment will lead to improvement in their lives directly or indirectly.

The CXO Roundtable – “Imagine India – Entrepreneurship and Innovation”

A distinguished panel of CXOs cheered the students as they presented their solutions. The CXOs also discussed their vision for “Imagine India” in a panel moderated by Joseph Landes. The panel shared their views on entrepreneurship, coping with failure, thinking out of the box and teamed it up with their personal experiences, thereby helping the students get valuable insights as they step into the professional world!
