Q: Most of my users have Windows 2000 Pro (150). No users have Administrative rights. Is there a patch for WSUS server that would automatically distribute without user intervention? Is there a way to distribute without Admin rights if manually? We don't use Exchange.
A: Windows 2000 is no longer in mainstream support. WSUS cannot be modified to push out updates. The best guidance for how to update a W2K box is at support.microsoft.com/kb/931836. However, it does not address general deployment mechanisms. That varies greatly from one customer to the next.
