windows 7 wednesday tip: dan mode

when i first got involved with computers i soon discovered there were little known features that you would pick up in classes or by experts.  even better were the “easter eggs” found in microsoft’s early products like windows 3.1 and windows nt.

many windows technical enthusiasts have probably heard about “god mode” in windows 7 (creating a folder – naming it godmode.{ed7ba470-8e54-465e-825c-99712043e01c}.  there’s even a t shirt now at the company store which my son has worn to school on a couple occasions.  well for many this is two tips and for others one tip (and for the elite few that know both – sorry).

tip #1 – it’s just a shell folder to all tasks in control panel (used for search results)

click start – type shell:::{ed7ba470-8e54-465e-825c-99712043e01c} (or better yet copy/paste) and you’ll see the same thing

tip #2 – it doesn’t have to be called god mode.

so today’s second tip is about dan mode.  create a folder, call it

dan mode.{ed7ba470-8e54-465e-825c-99712043e01c}

and now you have a little known “tip” to share with someone who wants to know more about windows vista or windows 7!
