Over the past couple of weeks some new resources have come online for helping to understand and deliver the Microsoft Optimized Desktop Solution. Optimized Desktop is about delivering a flexible environment to a user based on their requirements and encompasses delivery of the desktop via combinations of rich full client, session based desktop (Remote Desktop Services or Terminal Services) and/or Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). We then layer in technologies such as Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) and User State Virtualization (USV) for delivering a truly flexible workspace to the user.
New resources that you may find useful when looking for Optimized Desktop information:
- The UK TechNet folks have created a new Optimized Desktop page giving you Nine Steps to deploying Optimised Desktop – http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/gg548704
- Microsoft Services (the consulting division that most of the Deployment Guys work for) have a new Optimized Desktop site with case studies, scenarios and strategy – http://www.microsoft.com/microsoftservices/en/us/optimized_desktop.aspx
