Well imagine my shock!!!

When I walked to my desk this morning and saw these postcards:

We get quite a few desk drops in the office with different areas of the business wanting us to understand more about what they do and how we need to help them i.e. Microsoft Financing, also the Client team sent out Christmas crackers this week to make us aware of Home Server, but these just caught my eye! Not sure what that says about me mind you!

Naturally I turned over to find out more and realised these particular beauties were from the Office team. And I have to say I learned a lot:

1) A lot of people think of Microsoft Office as something they use at work but not at home
2) Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 sells for less than £100 and can be installed on up to 3 PCs
3) This version used to be just for students but now offers people at home the core Office tools you need
4) If you visit https://office.microsoft.com you can loads of templates that help you get started

Perhaps one of the reasons this particularly caught my eye is I am currently planning a wedding and I have been amazed at the technology that I have used to make life so much easier. So much so actually that I might try and get some funding to be a case study!
Anyhow here is the rundown:

1) IE7 (https://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/ie/getitnow.mspx)
For the last month or so, its all been about search, search, search

2) Live Maps (https://maps.live.com/)
We choose a venue that had no accommodation so we used Live Maps to work out the proximity of nearby hotels, as well as printing off directions to get there (yes I have not bowed down to sat nav yet!)

3) Office Groove (https://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/groove/FX100487641033.aspx)
This has been great to hold the documents that we have and they can be updated by anyone with access to the share

4) Microsoft Project (https://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/project/FX100487771033.aspx)
This product had a project plan and tabs for all the things you need to do all ready to download and get going with straight away!

No doubt you will hear a bit more about this as the planning picks up speed but I just thought it was interesting to see how technology can be used away from the office, and more interesting than that is that fact that I used all this as second nature
