Also yesterday, Microsoft announced Microsoft Search Server 2008 (MSS) and Microsoft Search Server 2008 Express (MSS Express), which will RTM in H1 of 2008.

The new MSS and MSS  Express products are our offerings for the standalone search solution market, and were developed for customers looking only for search functionality.

The MSS Express is a free, downloadable, standalone search server while MSS, which can scale to multiple boxes, has a VL SKU.
