KB: October 2014 anti-malware platform update for Endpoint Protection clients


The article below describes an anti-malware platform update package for the following:

- Microsoft System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager Endpoint Protection clients
- Microsoft System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection Service Pack 1 (SP1) clients
- Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 clients

These packages update Endpoint Protection client services, drivers, and user interface (UI) components.

This anti-malware platform update contains the following improvements:

- Improved scanning for MBR/VBR detections and advanced bootkits
- Dynamic registry key hardening to counter tampering from malware
- Disk space optimization for Low end devices
- Shortening fallback time to ADL for signatures

    With the March 2014 anti-malware platform update a hotfix was provided that could be installed onto the SCCM 2012 R2 server that would make it the default offering when clients were installed and to automatically update clients. Is there a plan to include
    a hotfix for this update to allow this or bundle it as part of, say, CU4 for SCCM 2012 R2?

    Can someone please explain the steps needed to install this update to the SCCM 2012 R2 server so it can deploy the correct version to clients? After KB2998627 is applied to the SCCM server, I checked Program FilesMicrosoft Configuration ManagerClient
    and the scepinstall.exe is There is no Hotfix Download Available button on KB2998627 either so I can’t do it manually. Any help or advice would be appreciated, thank you!
