The “User OU Name" attribute is not populated in user properties or in a query in ConfigMgr 2007

imageHi everyone, Tyler Franke here with another ConfigMgr tip for you.  Have you ever been working in the System Center Configuration Manager 2007 admin console and found that when you  right-click on a user in a collection, select properties and view the discovery data that the "User OU Name" property is not present?  Or maybe you see the same if a query is created to pull the "User OU Name" property from the User Resource class?  If so and you’re wondering why, this is actually expected behavior if the users that are being discovered reside in the default/built-in containers in the domain (e.g. the "Users" container in Active Directory Users and Computers). For users not in the default containers this information will be populated as will it be for any users who are moved to a custom OU.  So if you ever see this and are wondering why, remember that “User OU Name” is provided via the Active Directory User Discovery method only.
