Here’s another neat tip from Clifton Hughes in our Irving, Texas site. If you’re unable to view the status of Advertised packages from Advertisement Status view pane then this might be what you’re looking for:
Issue: You may be unable to view the status of Advertised packages from Advertisement Status view pane. You may also notice these additional symptoms:
Configmgr status message viewer indicated repeated warning messages as
Unable to open sitectrl file by components SMS_SITE SYSTEM_STATUS_SUMMARIZER and SMS_COMPONENT_STATUS_SUMMARIZER (Message Id : 4506)
Configmgr status message viewer indicated repeated error messages as Unable to initialize the summarizer. The return code is 13.(Message Id : 4515)
.SVF files backing up in offersum.box and compsumm.box
Offersum.log and compsumm.log indicated similar error messages as Failed to read the required operations management registry key values on local computer; error=6(0x6).
Cause: This issue seems to be caused by missing files or missing registry settings, and/or permissions to those file and registry settings, which is causing the services to not be able to start or function as expected.
Resolution: To resolve this issue perform a site reset on the site server that is experiencing this problem. To do a site reset on an System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Primary Server follow these steps:
1. Open Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs applet.
2. Click the Change/Remove button for Microsoft Configuration Manager 2007
3. Select the Perform site maintenance or reset this Site radio button and Click Next.
4. Select to check the box next to Re-apply default file and registry permissions on this site server, and Click Next.
NOTE: If this problem occurs on a Secondary Site server, you can perform an in place upgrade by rerunning setup from the Microsoft Configuration Manager\i386\bin folder on the server.
