New Configuration Manager Knowledge Base articles for the week ending 02/14/2009

Last week we had two new Knowledge Base articles on System Center Configuration Manager 2007.  Both deal with recurring advertisements or maintenance windows starting an hour earlier or an hour later than expected when the time is changed because of Daylight Saving Time.  The only difference between the two is that one applies to the RTM version of ConfigMgr 2007 and one applies if you're on Service Pack 1.

KB959257 - Recurring advertisements or maintenance windows start to run an hour later or earlier than expected when the time is changed because of DST in System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 1

KB956259 - Recurring advertisements or maintenance windows start to run an hour later or earlier than expected when the time is changed because of DST in System Center Configuration Manager 2007

Enjoy!

  1. I agree that this can be confusing but if it helps, our installers have detection logic which should prevent the wrong binary from getting onto a system.  I think the worst case scenario is you’ll get some sort of message that states the hotfix doesn’t apply to the system it’s being installed on.  Regardless, I’ll see if I can get the ‘Applies to’ section updated.

  3. I’ve raised this with the Product Group as well, but personally I find it VERY confusing that in the "Applies to:" section on BOTH articles it just mention ConfigMgr 2007.

Personally I think 257 should state it applies to SP1 and 259 RTM as what’s to stop someone applying 259 to an SP1 hierarchy and screwing something up?
