The Ultimate Intune Setup Guide – Stage 5: Enrol Your Devices (Windows 8.1)

Now that we’ve got our ConfigMgr and Intune environments speaking nicely to each other, we can start to enrol some devices.

I’ve previously enrolled Windows Phone 8.1, iOS and Android devices. I finally wanted to show that you can also enrol a full Windows 8.1 installation.

First, logon to your Windows 8.1 machine and open the Windows Store

In the search box, search for Company Portal

Find the Company Portal app and install it

Once installed, launch the Company Portal app

You’ll be prompted to enter your domain credentials

image

As we’re using ADFS, the logon process will redirect you to your on-prem ADFS server

image

Now enter your password

image

image

Once you’ve logged in, you’ll be reminded to enrol your device prior to applications being made available

image

Now browse back to the Desktop, and open the Change PC Settings modern settings menu

image

Browse into the Network subset

image

And select Workplace

image

Enter your User ID and press the Turn on button to start the enrolment process

image

The device enrolment will lookup your enrollment services based on the username you’ve entered

image

And will prompt for your domain credentials. You can see here it’s utilizing our ADFS server for logon.

image

Agree to the terms of service, and press Turn on

image

Once this has been completed, the Turn on button will change to a Turn off button.

image

Now launch the Company Portal from your Apps menu

image

And we can now see that we’re enrolled and my current devices are listed!

Finally, we can see the client appear in the ConfigMgr console
