Summary

"Unable to contact the Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services server via WMI"  received when attempting to install MOM 2005 SP1 Reporting using a SQL Reporting Services 2005 Reporting Server.

Cause : The WMI namespace for SQL Reporting Services 2005 changed location with the release of SQL Server 2005. MOM is unable to locate the new WMI namespace.

Workaround : For an interactive installation uncheck the Automatically detect virtual directories checkbox and enter the virtual directories manually, e.g. ReportServer and Reports

For scripted installs use the MSI properties

AUTOMATICALLY_DETECT_ROSETTA_VDIRS=0

REPORT_SERVER_VDIR= ReportServer

REPORT_MANAGER_VDIR=Reports
