Compressing Powerpoint

I was reading Eileen’s weblog the other day; she had a good post about “enhancing your presentations” which was well worth the read.  It made me think of a useful feature in Powerpoint which most people who use Powerpoint don’t see to be aware of (it could of course just be the people I hang around with!), but as I showed this to two people just last week I’d thought I’d share it.
From within Powepoint, open the “Picture” Toolbar - on it you will see an icon that looks like a small square with 4 arrows pointing inwards at each corner – it’s called “Compress Pictures”.  Dependant on the graphics you have in the presentation the space saving results can be dramatic, remember however that the change of format could mean that you wont be able to re-edit the graphical elements – so take a copy first.  After the file has been compressed in this manner you can still ZIP it as well to gain extra space savings.
