Seattle IT Pro User Group Meeting – Aug 7th in Bellevue

The next monthly SITPUG meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the Lincoln Square Center in Bellevue at 6:00PM.

Session DetailsZubair Alexander, President of SeattlePro Enterprises, will be the featured speaker at August’s meeting. Zubair is a Microsoft MVP for Directory Services and a Microsoft Certified Trainer. The topic of his presentation is “Best Practices for Securing Active Directory.”

Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) play an important part in providing centralized management of network resources. They are also crucial to controlling access to the corporate data. It only makes sense to ensure the security of Active Directory Domain Services. Some administrators mistakenly believe that because Active Directory servers are running on their internal network, they are relatively safe from the malicious attacks. According to researchers, the majority of attacks on an average network take place from within the organization’s internal network.

Securing your Active Directory Domain Services using best practices is essential to securing your Windows network infrastructure. In this presentation you will learn how to better secure your Active Directory Domain Controllers by reducing the attack surface, identifying sources of threat and then minimizing them, how to look for signs of compromise, and how to properly secure the administrative accounts.

Zubair’s bio is available here.
