Response Point White Paper: Network Requirements for Microsoft Response Point SP2

Brief Description

This paper is designed to assist VARs who want to offer Response Point readiness assessments, pre-deployment planning, and solution implementation services to small business customers.

Overview

Microsoft® Response Point™ is a full-featured telephony solution for small businesses that provides cost-effective services with easy-to-use administrative features. While Response Point is designed to be easy for a business user to install, configure, grow, and manage, there is still a role for value-added resellers (VARs) in assessing businesses for readiness and in developing deployment plans. Most small businesses do not have a dedicated IT staff, let alone a network engineering staff, so most customers will benefit from working with a trusted vendor who can ensure that their Response Point solution and supporting data network will achieve optimum performance.

Response Point White Paper: Configuring Customizable URLs in Incoming Call Notification Windows

Brief Description

Topics in this paper include Pre-Deployment Requirements, How Response Point Handles Strings and Sub-Phrases, and Security Precautions.

Overview

With Microsoft® Response Point™ Version 1.0 Service Pack 2 (SP2), it is possible to launch a customized URL for each incoming call notification window (sometimes casually called “toast”). This feature can help a small business track incoming call data, if it is integrated with a customer-relationship-management application. Enabling the URL launch feature is not intended for the everyday office employee. Therefore, the audience for this white paper (and subsequently enabling this feature) is a developer, value-added reseller (VAR), or technical enthusiast who is familiar with Response Point, Web applications, and modification of the registry.

Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Attendant

Brief Description

Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Attendant is an intuitive, integrated call management application that facilitates accurate and rapid call handling and routing for front-line business professionals.

Overview

Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Attendant is an intuitive, integrated call management application that facilitates accurate and rapid call handling and routing for front-line business professionals
Handle high call volumes quickly Typical users of Communications Server Attendant are administrative assistants, team assistants, and receptionists. The application consists of a single full-screen window that lets you view all conversations at once, along with your Contact List. This enables you to follow and prioritize each conversation effectively and, using the consult and transfer features, you can route calls quickly and systematically to the appropriate recipients.
Provide better service to callers Features such as integrated caller history and caller notes provide a context about callers as they appear on your screen. For identified callers, Communications Server Attendant provides such information as their name, title, company and contact annotations. Additionally, configurable call alerts enable you to increase caller context, for example by identifying a repeat caller — someone who has called more than once over a certain time span (30 minutes by default).
Handle calls on someone’s behalf A primary function of Communications Server Attendant is enabling you to accept calls that were targeted at another person, for example an administrative assistant answering a call for the manager. This functionality is highly configurable — you can determine which calls go to the administrative assistant and which calls “break through” to the manager. An administrative assistant can also place calls on behalf of a manager who configures the administrative assistant as a delegate.

Response Point Send A Page Quick Start Guide

Brief Description

Send A Page Quick Start Guide

Overview

A page lets you broadcast 1-way messages to people, similar to making a public address (PA) announcement. In a 1-way page, only the recipient can hear the caller's voice. However, a page recipient can turn a 1-way page into a 2-way intercom call by pressing the blue Response Point button. If multiple people received the page, they will be disconnected from the call, leaving the caller and the recipient who pressed the Response Point button engaged in a 2-way intercom call. Once reversed, the 2-way intercom call cannot be returned to a 1-way page.

Response Point Configure Park Music Quick Start Guide

Brief Description

Configure Park Music Quick Start Guide

Overview

Music helps add a professional touch while filling the silence for callers waiting in park. Using a custom feed, you can broadcast the music you prefer, promotional materials, or other important messages that you want callers to hear. Attach a cable from an analog audio source—such as a radio, CD player, or other sound device—to the audio jack on the base unit, typically a "line-in" or "mic-in" jack, and then configure the connection using Response Point Administrator. A custom feed plays on a continuous cycle, without a definite beginning or ending. When you park a call, the caller will hear the audio file from where it's currently playing, not from where the audio file begins. Therefore, callers waiting in park hear the same thing at the same time.

Microsoft Unified Communications Managed API 2.0 SDK (64 bit)

Brief Description

The Microsoft Unified Communications Managed API 2.0 is the middle-tier API of Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2.

Overview

The Microsoft Unified Communications Managed API 2.0 is a managed-code platform that empowers developers to build applications that provide access to and control over Microsoft’s Enhanced Presence information, instant messaging, telephone and video calls and audio/video conferencing. It enables both text based, as well as voice based - speech technology enabled – conversations and collaboration.
The UC Managed API 2.0 is intended to support the development of server side, middle-tier applications targeting Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2 and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2. It contains a SIP stack, a media stack as well as powerful speech engines for both automatic speech recognition (ASR) as well as speech synthesis (TTS).
The UCMA 2.0 can be used to communications-enable your business software and processes and can be used to create outbound applications like alerts or notifications and surveys, as well as inbound speech technology enabled interactive voice response applications and automated agents, a.k.a. query response bots. The API gives access to the presence information available in Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 and can be used to build role agents that use Microsoft’s Enhanced Presence information to streamline communications between people.
More advanced developer scenarios enable applications like Automated Call Distributors, that do skill based routing, Conferencing Services, like conference access control, custom client gateways, which can interface e.g. with other communications networks, Interactive Voice Response platforms and speech servers using the Microsoft ASR and TTS engines.
The UCMA 2.0 Core SDK abstracts away most of the Office Communications Server SIP/SIMPLE based protocols by offering an API that exposes almost all of the features of the protocol, but is simpler to understand and use.
The UCMA 2.0 Speech API is a server grade speech API, that allows developers to build multi channel speech recognition and speech synthesis enabled applications using Microsoft’s state of the art speech technology. The Microsoft speech engines bundled with the API support twelve different languages, including English (North America, United Kingdom), French (France, Canada), German, American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, Korean and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional).
The UCMA 2.0 Workflow API is an higher API abstraction layer of the UCMA Core and Speech APIs that adds unified communications Windows Workflow Activities to the .NET 3.5 SP1 Workflow Foundation for querying presence and IM or speech technology enabled dialogs in Workflow based applications build e.g. on Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007.
