Red Hat support on Hyper-V and Windows Support on virtualized Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Red Hat has signed the agreement to join Microsoft's Server Virtualization Validation Program (SVVP), whilst Microsoft has joined Red Hat's Virtualization Certification Program.

Currently planned for completed by H2 2009, Hyper-V Validation will being undertaken for the following products:

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.2 (x86 and x64)
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 (x86 and x64)

Red Hat's Virtualization Certification Program is expected to cover:

  • Windows Server 2008
  • Windows Server 2003 R2
  • Windows Server 2000 SP4 or later

Customers with a current Microsoft support agreement for Windows Server 2008 will entitle the customer to obtain support under the agreement.
Any customer with a valid Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscription, using Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.x guests will be entitled to support under this agreement.

Currently under the SVVP program, Novell SUSE Linux is validated:
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP2 (x64)

Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 includes cross-platform monitoring and will support Red Hat Enterprise Linux server version 4 and 5 in Q2 2009 to allow customers to manage their applications and OS in the guest VM.
