ACM Tech Pack Leader Extols Promises of Cloud Computing

Doug Terry, a researcher at Microsoft Research Silicon Valley, who chairs the ACM Cloud Computing Tech Pack, told attendees at the “24 Hours in the Clouds” virtual conference that cloud computing promises to radically change the way that computer applications and services are constructed, delivered, and managed.  In a keynote address on June 1, Terry said the potential benefits are clear, but realizing these benefits requires new techniques for sharing resources among applications, providing unlimited scalability, protecting privacy, and integrating diverse devices. The virtual keynote, Technology in the Cloud – Plus Some Challenges and Opportunities, presented at a conference produced by GITCA, is anchored in the content of the ACM Tech Pack on Cloud Computing.
