[Podcast] Critical Access using BizTalk Server 2006

When you're providing critical care information for doctors and medical staff at a large urban area hospital, there's not a lot of wiggle room for error or latency. In 2005, The Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, Ontario, opened The Carlo Fidani Peel Regional Cancer Centre to provide oncology services and treatment for patients diagnosed with cancer.  At the time of the opening, they decided to upgrade their Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 to BizTalk Server 2006. The hospital uses BizTalk Server and the BizTalk Accelerator for Health Level 7 (HL7) to automate the data exchange between the variety of clinical applications used to store patient information. HL7 is a standard specification used in many medical applications. It's similar to the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) format used in business applications.

Avril Cardoso, Manager of Application Services, spoke to me earlier this year about the process that the hospital went through. Take a listen to hear about her experiences with BizTalk, why they chose it and how they were able to deploy it.
