Podcast with Ilya Bukshteyn, Director of Communications, SQL Server, Microsoft Corp.

Some of you may remember Ilya in the 90s’ before he went to Redmond when he worked for MCS and when he made presentations across Canada as a Senior Systems Engineer and Senior Technology Specialist. He was always engaging and easy to follow providing useful pointers for IT Pros. As a result, anytime he was in Vancouver, I would make sure I caught his sessions. When he was promoted to Redmond, I followed-up with several interviews with Ilya including where he describes some of his early days in Canada, his work in Redmond , and the current SQL, VS, and Biztalk launch.

I find Ilya’s a great resource in providing useful insights about the latest Microsoft products. In this podcast, he describes current customers benefiting from using the newest product releases [SQL Server, VS, Biztalk], and then peers into his crystal ball for a look at future trends. He also provides commentary on Live Windows, Office Live, and questions surrounding software-as-a-service. Sometimes, analysts are a little too far ahead of curve in their prognostications and we talk about this fact.

Something I didn’t know about until this interview was the upcoming MIX06 conference where Microsoft discusses all the latest web technologies. I always have a fun question section in a podcast. In this case, Ilya provides some useful information that I actually follow to increase my productivity.

Here is the direct link to the podcast interview and to an interview page containing both a link to the interview and a "time index (mm:ss): topics list". This way you can jump to sections of interest to you.
