PDW - Assessment, Training and Implementation

Beyond the work of deciding whether you need a data warehouse appliance and then deciding which one to purchase (hopefully you're in the PDW camp!), work still needs to be done to assess, train and finally implement your solution. It can seem daunting, but when you look at some of the offerings that exist across Microsoft Technology Partners, you'll quickly find that it doesn't have to be that way.

One of those partners is Pragmatic Works, they've created an offering that includes:

  • Assessment - Pragmatic Works has a readiness tool that will analyze your entire SQL Server environment. When possible, you’ll want to limit the profiling process to only the items being migrated to the PDW. Limiting the tool to these items will improve accuracy for project scoping.
  • Training - PDW Planning Workshop is designed to identify solutions to key business challenges facing your organization. These challenges are often caused by data volume, variety and velocity growth due to a number of factors.
  • Implementation/Migration - During an intensive 4 week* engagement Pragmatic Works' PDW trained consultant will work with your team to migrate an existing data warehouse solution to PDW.

For more information on the PDW offering from Pragmatic Works or to understand more about PDW, you can visit the Pragmatic Works PDW website.

If you're interested on how you can utilize Microsoft's PDW, a massively parallel processing data warehousing appliance built for any volume of relational data (with up to 100x performance gains) and provides the simplest integration to Hadoop, you can read the solution brief or you can view the online streaming of Microsoft's PDW presentation at the Data Marketing 2013 conference in Toronto, taking place on Tuesday, December 10th at 1:30pm (ET).
